Я хочу Вам рассказать про город, в котором я родилась. Заполярный – город в Печенгском районе Мурманской области (основан в 1956 году), находится за Северным Полярным Кругом. Мурманская область занимает весь Кольский полуостров и омывается Баренцевым и Белым морями.

Z - Zapoliarnyi

I’d like to tell you about my native town. Zapolyarniy is a town in the Pechenga district of the Murmansk region. It was founded in 1956. Zapolyarniy is situated above the Northern Arctic Circle. The Murmansk region is situated in the northwest part of Russia on the Kola Peninsula. The Kola Peninsula surrounded by the Barents Sea and White Sea.

В моем городе есть Аллея Славы, где установлен памятник воинам защитникам Заполярья.

W - Walk of Fame.

There is a monument to the defenders of the Arctic in the Walk of Fame.

П - Природные явления

Природные явления, которые можно наблюдать у нас в городе: Северное или Полярное сияние (Аврора) - быстродвижущиеся и переливающиеся разным цветом световые полосы на небе. Полярный день (длительность 66 дней) – летом светло днем и ночью, потому что солнце не опускается за горизонт. Полярная ночь (длительность 44 дня) – зимой солнце не поднимается над горизонтом и все время темно.

N - Natural phenomenons

Zapolyarniy is one of the Best places for hunting the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights also known as Aurora Borealis occurs when excited solar particles collide with a atmospheric gases. It looks like a neon lights show. We can observe two natural phenomena in Zapolyarniy. The Polar night occurs in winter, when the night lasts for more the 24 hours.The opposite natural phenomenon is the Polar day. It occurs in Summer, when the Sun stays above the horizon for more than 24 hours.

О - Озеро и Олени

Вблизи Заполярного находится озеро Палоярви, из него берут питьевую воду для жителей города. Недалеко от города, на дороге, можно встретить Северных оленей.

L & D - Lake and Deers

The Paloyarvi lake is situated near the city. It is a reservoir which supplies drinking water to Zapolyarniy. You can meet the northern deers near Zapolyarniy.

Л - Луостари

В 11 км от Заполярного находится поселок Луостари. На станции Луостари расположен самый северный в мире железнодорожный вокзал. Трифонов-Печенгский мужской монастырь восстановлен на историческом месте, около поселка Луостари.

L - Luostari

Luostari village is 11 km from Zapolyarniy. The northermost railway station in the world is located at Luostari station. There is Trifonov-Pechenga Monastery near the Luostari village, it was restored on its historical place.

Я - Ягоды

Северный край богат ягодами. В лесу мы собираем морошку, бруснику, голубику и чернику.

B - Berries

The northern region is rich in berries. We pick cloudberry, cowberry, blueberries and bilberry in the forest.

 Р - Рыба

Рыбная промышленность – одна из ведущих отраслей экономики Мурманской области. Здесь можно отведать около 20 видов рыб (треска, палтус, семга, форель, горбуша, пикша и т.д.)

F - Fish

The fishing industry is one of the leading sectors of the economy of the Murmansk region. You can taste about 20 species of fish here. They are cod, halibut, salmon, trout, humpback salmon, haddock, etc.

Н - Никель

В городе добывают медно-никелевую руду из которой получают металл – никель. А еще, в 28 км, от Заполярного, есть поселок с таким же названием – Никель.

N - Nickel

Copper-nickel ore is mined in Zapolyarniy. Nickel metal is obtained from this ore. 28 km from Zapolyarniy there is a village with the same name - Nickel.

Ы - Интересные факты

Заполярный – единственный город в Печенгском районе. В 10 км от города расположена Кольская сверхглубокая скважина – глубочайшая в мире буровая скважина (глубина – 12262 м).

N - Nickel

Zapolyarniy is the only city in the Pechenga district. The Kola super-deep well is 10 km from Zapolyarniy. It is the most famous well in Russia. It is the deepest drilling well in the world. Its depth is 12262 m.

Й - Йоки – река

Из питьевого озера Палоярви вытекает река Намайоки и впадает в реку Печенга. Также рядом с городом протекает река Пильгуйоки.

 Y - Yoki - river

The Namajoki is a river that flows from the Paloyarvi lake and drains into the Pechenga river. The Pilguyoki is a river that flows near Zapolyarniy.
