“RUSSIAN PAINTERS” SERIES
VENETSIANOV AND HIS SCHOOL
Alexey Venetsianov (1780-1847) did not come from the family of artists, neither did he study at the Academy of Fine Arts. Actually a self-taught artist, he became the leader of a whole school of Russian painters. Venetsianov contributed to the history of Russian culture much that was new and original. In fact, his creations mark the birth of Russian genre and landscape painting.
The album comprises the most outstanding productions of this master: - “Threshing Barn”, “Harvesters”, “In the Fields: Spring”, “In the Harvest Field: Summer” and many others.
There are also included works of his most talented students: G. Soroka, A. Alexeyev, N. Krylov, A. Denisov, Y. Krendovsky, K. Zelentsov, A. Tyranov and others.
The album contains an introductory article and 61 colour reproductions. The text is in English, French, German and Russian.
